Streatham Business Awards 2014

On Tuesday 11 February, over 200 local business owners were among the attendees at the annualStreatham Business Awardsceremony. The event took place at local favourite, the Hideaway and was hosted by former Blue Peter presenter, Diane Louise Jordan.

In the words of our very own Chairman, Richard Coltart:

“Events like the awards are an excellent way to celebrate what’s best about Streatham. It was inspiring to be a part of such a large gathering of local business people: there was a real sense of working together for the greater good. We at inStreatham are already utilising that collective approach and you’ll soon be seeing the impact of a number of projects chosen by the business community that will improve our High Road.”

Chuka Umunna, our local MP and Shadow to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, was sadly unable to attend the event, but that did not stop him from sending out a glamorous video message to all those who attended:

“I always say, that to me, my constituency is the centre of the universe. One of the things that makes this such a fantastic area to live in is our unique range of wonderful businesses – both the old favourites and the growing number of exciting new ventures.”

With the exception of the award for ‘Best Customer Service’, which was voted for by the public, the decisions behind the other awards were made by a panel of five judges, who had the arduous task of whittling down 38 entrants to just 7 award winners. In the end, the results were as follows:
